DevOps Engineer, About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join Sonatafy full-time. This role focuses on administering the IT department’s operations and systems, with additional responsibility for providing support when needed. You will be responsible for managing onboarding/offboarding, hardware and software assets, MDM, user accounts, and SaaS platforms that keep our distributed teams productive.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and organized. They have a solid IT foundation and can balance administration tasks with occasional hands-on support in a remote-first environment.

DevOps Engineer Responsibilities
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will support our customer’s application and the environment in the following way:
- Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI for application, infrastructure, and data workloads.
- Lead infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code, including AWS CDK with migration or translation to Terraform to support standardized, scalable deployments.
- Own containerized platform operations on Amazon ECS, including task definitions, service scaling, networking, and security, and lead migrations from ECS to EKS or similar platforms to optimize cost and performance where appropriate.
- Design and operate serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and event-driven integrations.
- Implement GitOps workflows using Git as the single source of truth for infrastructure, application, and data changes.
- Design and manage cloud networking architectures, including VPC design, peering, routing, and secure cross-environment connectivity.
- Administer and automate Cloudflare DNS configurations as part of global traffic management and security strategy.
- Implement Database as Code practices for MongoDB and PostgreSQL, including schema management, indexing, roles, migrations, and environment parity, supporting systems such as Strapi CMS backed by PostgreSQL.
- Design, provision, and automate MongoDB clusters across environments, including replication, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Build and support AI and machine learning pipelines using tools such as Amazon SageMaker and Kedro.
- Design and maintain AI data management pipelines, including partitioning strategies, change data capture, data staging, and reliable data ingestion and downloading pipelines.
- Standardize deployment, testing, promotion, rollback, and release processes across platforms.
- Improve observability, reliability, and deployment safety through metrics, logging, tracing, and automated validation.
- Partner with security, compliance, data, and application teams to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor engineers, review designs and implementations, and promote DevOps, GitOps, and reliability best practices.
DevOps Engineer Skills and Qualifications
- Six or more years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with GitLab CI in production environments.
- Strong experience with Amazon ECS and containerized workloads.
- Experience leading or supporting migrations from ECS to EKS or similar orchestration platforms.
- Production experience implementing GitOps workflows.
- Strong MongoDB expertise, including replication, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Experience implementing Database as Code for MongoDB.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Solid Linux and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
DevOps Engineer Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience with Argo CD or Flux.
- Experience operating in regulated or multi-tenant environments.
- Experience with secrets management solutions.
- Background in Site Reliability Engineering or reliability-focused roles.
