Magento Developer, About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Magento Developer to join Sonatafy full-time. This role focuses on administering the IT department’s operations and systems, with additional responsibility for providing support when needed. You will be responsible for managing onboarding/offboarding, hardware and software assets, MDM, user accounts, and SaaS platforms that keep our distributed teams productive.

Magento Developer Key Responsibilities:

Magento Development: Lead the development, customization, and implementation of Magento themes, modules, and extensions.
Module/Extension Development: Design and implement custom features and integrations using Magento’s API, adhering to best practices in PHP and Magento.
Hyvä Theme Migration & Maintenance: Execute Hyvä theme migration and ongoing maintenance, ensuring compatibility, optimal performance, and adherence to responsive design and accessibility best practices while aligning updates with evolving business and UX requirements.
Hyvä Checkout Implementation & Maintenance: Manage Hyvä Checkout implementation and maintenance, ensuring seamless user experience and conversion optimisation through customisation, secure integrations with payment and shipping services, and reliable, high-speed checkout workflows.
Front-End Customization: Customize Magento templates using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (including Less.js, Grunt, and RequireJS) to ensure a seamless and responsive user interface.
Back-End Customization: Develop and optimize back-end functionality, including database queries, caching, indexing, and data migration using MySQL and PHP.
System Integration: Integrate Magento with third-party services, including payment gateways (e.g., Bluesnap, PayPal, Stripe), shipping providers, and marketing tools using Magento REST APIs.
Performance Optimization: Diagnose performance issues and optimize site speed through efficient use of caching mechanisms (Varnish, Redis), database indexing, and front-end optimizations.
Security: Implement security best practices in Magento development, ensuring PCI compliance and secure handling of customer data.
Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, designers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality e-commerce solutions. Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.
Version Control & DevOps: Utilize Git for version control, automate deployment pipelines, and manage Magento installations via Composer.
Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing technical support for the Magento platform, troubleshooting issues, and performing regular updates and maintenance.

Magento Developer Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in Adobe Commerce Cloud / Magento development, with a focus on Magento 2.
Expertise in PHP, MySQL, MariaDB, Nginx, Varnish, ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, RabbitMQ, Redis, Valkey, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Docker and related technologies.
Experience in MariaDB, Nginx, Varnish, ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, RabbitMQ, Redis, Valkey, and Docker.
Strong experience with Magento module and theme development, Magento REST APIs.
Experience with front-end development (Less.js, Grunt, and RequireJS) and back-end optimization (database performance, caching, and indexing).
Deep understanding of Magento’s architecture, including the MVC pattern, dependency injection, and EAV data model.
Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and Magento CLI.
Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including automated deployments and Composer.
Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, online payment gateways, and SEO best practices.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience leading projects and mentoring junior developers.

Magento Developer Preferred Qualifications:

Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 Certified Developer certification.
Proven expertise in migrating Magento stores from Luma to Hyvä themes across both front-end and back-end development.
Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Hyvä Checkout for optimised user experience and secure integrations.
Experience with Multi-Currency, Multi-Language Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 store architecture.
Experience working with Hyvä themes.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Experience with an enterprise-level Adobe Commerce Cloud instance
Knowledge of Azure or other cloud hosting platforms.
Familiarity with Docker, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
Experience with other e-commerce platforms or frameworks is a plus.
